Breast Clinic delays at LUH raised as serious issue in Dáil Eireann

first_imgDonegal Deputy Pearse Doherty has today questioned An Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald about the extraordinary delays at the Breast Centre at Letterkenny University Hospital.Shocking figures were disclosed to Donegal Deputy Pearse Doherty this week showing that, of the 732 patients referred to the breast cancer clinic by their GP, 143 of those have been waiting for over a year for an appointment.Speaking at Dail Eireann this afternoon, Sinn Féin Finance Spokesperson Deputy Doherty asked: “How does the government stand over the fact that women in Donegal, 143 of them who have been referred by their GPs to the systematic breast disease clinic have been waiting over a year for appointments, where yet another couple of hundred women have been waiting six months?”Deputy Doherty put the query to an Tánaiste: “as a woman, and as Tánaiste, and as somebody who has a leadership role in this Government of this State, what action can you as a Government take to make sure these women are not waiting those extraordinary lengths of time for an appointment to a breast clinic after being referred by their GPs by presenting symptoms or possible symptoms that they have breast cancer.”The Tánaiste said she recognised the importance of timely access to Breast Check, and stated she was not familiar with the current issues in Donegal.Ms Fitzgerald said: “There is a system in place that if there is an urgent referral that arrangements can be made that the person is seen quickly as opposed to the more routine referrals. “I don’t know the particular situation in Donegal, but sometimes when there have been delays in Breast Check it has been due to the lack of availability of staff, of radiologists.“I will ask the Minister the precise reason why there are those delays in Donegal and I will ask him to come back to you and give you the details because it is a serious issue.”Breast Clinic delays at LUH raised as serious issue in Dáil Eireann was last modified: June 29th, 2017 by Rachel McLaughlinShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:breast cancer clinicDeputy Pearse DohertyLetterkenny University Hospitaltanaiste francis fitzgeraldlast_img read more

WWE: How to get nuclear heat? Ask Kevin Owens and Elias

first_imgAdvertisement AdvertisementHow to get nuclear heat? Ask Kevin Owens and EliasThis week’s episode of Monday Night RAW will be distinctively remembered for the segment that involved Kevin Owens and Elias during the final hour of the show. The duo will team up to take on the pairing of Bobby Lashley and John Cena in tag team competition this Saturday at WWE Super Show Down in Melbourne, Australia. During the middle of their promo, Kevin Owens raised a question and said that Cena teaming up with Lashley did not make sense.Elias agreed with the Prizefighter’s remarks and added that its the same like having a basketball team in Seattle. In case you didn’t know, Seattle previously had an NBA franchise, ‘Seattle Supersonics’ before they relocated to Oklahoma City in 2008.Elias’ statement directly hit the nerve of the WWE Universe and the fans started heckling the duo. The boos became extremely turbulent to the point where KO was forced to shout at the top of his lungs and moreover, his partner was also compelled to turn up his collar mic.In his one year stint on RAW, Elias has been known for constantly dissing the respective sports teams of the city in which the show is being hosted. But never before has his comments hit the WWE fans so hard that they booed him for the rest of the night. But, at the same, the Supersonics was beloved by the city of Seattle and they are still bitter and resentful about the fact that their team was snatched away from the city.last_img read more
