Timmer Named MVC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week For The Third Time

first_imgDrake University senior Reed Timmer (New Berlin, Wis.) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday, Feb. 19. The honor is the second this month and third this season for Timmer.Timmer, Drake’s all-time scoring leader, earning the honor after averaging 29.5 points per game in a pair of wins by shooting 54.8 percent from the field, 45.5 percent from the arc and 93.8 percent from the free-throw line.He opened the week with a historic performance and a career-high 39 points in the win over Indiana State. His 39 points were the most by a Bulldog since 2015-16 and the second most since 1981 as well as being the top performance by a Valley player this season. He was 11-of-19 from the field and 8-of-15 from the arc in that 39-point performance and his eight three pointers were one off the school record and Knapp Center record.For an encore, he scored 20 points in the road win at Missouri State including a three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left to win the game. He was fouled on the make and converted for the final four-point advantage in Drake’s third-ever win in Springfield.Timmer and his teammates return to action Wednesday, Feb. 21, for a 7 p.m. contest at Illinois State.Print Friendly Versionlast_img read more
