Thieves rob Journalist during home intrusion

first_imgA journalist and her fiancé are now left counting their losses after bandits reportedly invaded their home and made off with their valuables.Shunza Samuels, a senior journalist at the National Communications Network (NCN) and her fiancé, Jermaine Massiah of First Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD) were robbed sometime during the wee hours of Tuesday morning.Shunza SamuelsAccording to reports, the couple woke up at about 05:30h and Massiah could not locate his cellphone. As such, he attempted to use Samuels’ phone to call his but hers also could not be found.Samuels immediately proceeded to search for her laptop, which contained projects as she is a final year student at the University of Guyana but that was also missing.It was at that moment that the couple realised that their apartment was broken into. They also frantically searched for a handbag containing cash and documents but that also proved futile.Further inspections carried out showed that the rear door of the apartment had been prised opened. At around 10:00h however, a security guard returned the missing handbag which he allegedly found in front of his place of employment, ETK mining, Atlantic Ville.Samuels is asking the public for assistance in locating the valuables, especially her laptop which contains important information such as her assignments and project for the University of Guyana.The matter was reported to the Turkeyen Police Station and an investigation was launched.last_img read more
