Exclusive – Liverpool legend expects club to overcome ‘learning curve’

first_imgLiverpool legend Kenny Dalglish believes the club have made a slow start to the new season because they are experiencing a “learning curve” in juggling so many competitions. The Reds’ unexpected success in finishing as Premier League runners-up last season resulted in the team qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in five years, but so far they have made a lacklustre start to the new season.Surprise league defeats to Aston Villa and West Ham, plus only a narrow victory over Ludogorets in Europe and requiring penalties to see off Middlesbrough in the Capital One Cup has left fans on Merseyside questioning whether they can repeat their heroics from last time out.But former Liverpool boss and player Dalglish is convinced the club will gradually find their way.“When you step up in class and you meet good opposition or you’re playing extra games because of your success that’s a learning curve,” he told Kick Off.“It’s a learning curve for some of the players who have come in and it’s a learning curve for Brendan [Rodgers], he’s not been in Europe before. They’ll take a bit of time to settle down but what they did last year they’ve been rewarded for.“They’ve just got to kick on again this year and I’m sure they’ll get it right. They got it right last year and came so close, I’m sure they’ll do the same this year.”last_img read more
